Today I highlight one of our free courses – The New Updated TDG – Transportation of Dangerous Goods!

Our online TDG course provides essential information regarding the legal transportation of dangerous goods on Canadian roads. Upon completing this course, participants will be familiar with topics including: the regulations governing the transportation of dangerous goods; the nine classifications of dangerous goods; TDG placards, labels, and symbols; emergency response requirements in case of a product spill or release; and documentation requirements.

Our topics will cover:

●      The history of TDG

●      Changes to the TDG regulations

●      And the elements of TDG

One of the big changes Is that the concept and term “adequately trained” has been removed entirely. Instead, the new training standard focuses on competency-based training.  As you know, each mode of transport requires a special and unique set of competencies and skills. So, it is up to the employers to assess and ensure that workers can execute their tasks competently.  While Transport Canada hasn’t issued any specific training requirements, they do specify that general awareness training and job-specific training are both required. This is one of the reasons why we highlight a second big change … “Certificates of Training” will be replaced with “Certificates of competency”. Certificates of competency will need to indicate that workers have received both the general knowledge and function-specific training required by the standard.  To learn more and work your way through what you need to know and understand about these changes and other TDG changes feel free to review our free TDG course.

Also note that all these new lessons are now available in French and low resolution.
